listen for whining bearings and perhaps flush the oil and see how bad the old stuff is as well as how much metal on the bung magnet.

they seem to go for ages if not being thrashed to death...

BIG' IS GOOD :) depends a lot on how much you want to play with things i guess, bigger intercoolers can require more bracketry. as for turbos try and get a unit rebuilt with the city exhaust housing so its a bolt on, the newer VF series dont fit unless you start playing with new manifolds etc which ...

Good to hear. If you have planed the head that retards your cam and ignition timing, generally both bad for power. I will be doing some adjustable cam pulleys at some stage soon hopefully that will fix this. yip sounds about right, have wound the dizzy two teeth forward which has done the trick any...

redid all timing again, it was the culprit, 2 teeth on the cam/crank and it took more than the factory setting on the dizzy to get it going., could be to do with the fact ive raised the compression for some some reason. anyway, got it starting from dead cold with a couple of cranks and no pedal push...

Timing and vac advance... You need to sort out any potential issues first. Timing has a big impact you get it wrong and the cars will not start. Also check your main Relay is working correctly, but the motor wont turn over if thats not working. yeh im having trouble trying to time it as the flywhee...

Make sure you get your bores checked that they arnt out of round.

Ive seen several "flogged" motors where bores have ovalised causing bad effects after a rebuild.

If the motors not that tired or been really flogged for ages while being a bit "lose" you should be ok.

sounds like a stuck wastegate.

Put a boost guage in the car and see what pressure the turbo gets up too and if its hitting around 14psi it will hit the factory boost cut.

Been wondering what happened to your project, I know how easy it is to lose momentum. Good to have some of the older members still kicking around with cities. thanks for that, and yes these things can lose momentum alright! and hey, the old citys are such quirky little...

Try proturn engineering in Chch

They will custom make some for you, or more to the point use some blanks and make them into what u need.

I used them for some customer pistons for my other honda.

Yo all! good to see this topic again :D I havent got an el and played with it yet, but am still keen to look at it some time. I have a spare aftermarket ECU kicking about which will be good to run on a motor if i can find and build one. With a cam angle and crank angle sensor you could run wasted sp...
