Hi There:
Just wanted to share my experience with the Lucas additive,
This is one good product for gear box making the shifting slightly smoother.
But don't mix too much into the engine, on the label it said to mix a 20% additive into the engine for protection, but if it is a older engine use 50%.
The thing it didn't told you is that once you mix 20% of that staff in your fuel consumption will start to move up as well.
I was using that on my parents car as a lab rat, from around 9L/100KM it jumps to around 13L/100KM. Secondly once you mix that in next time you change the oil you will not only found that all the oil is more black then usual but also very glue like, you will not totally get all of them out even when using engine flash. And endup the dispoal is still inside your engine!!
Thanks for Loooking mate!!! ::) ::)

Re: motor oil additive
You say its very glue like, Would that work well with the turbo then?

Re: motor oil additive
O well!! I think it will work on any engine if you don't mind the fuel costs. I would assume that it is well desgin for engine protection and all that.
And if you still unsure we can always ask colza later!! ;D ;D ;D

Re: motor oil additive
LOL.
I have had no problems with it. It certainly helped in the gearbox, but i didnt notice much improvement on the engine side. My turbo seals were too far gone for even Lucas Goop to bridge the gap ::) Doesnt seem to have done any harm, though i did not bother to buy any last oil change...

Hmm..... I have went to SuperCheap and found out there is a few different type of Lucas additive.
Engine, Gear Box + Differ, Power Steering, auto box.
Which one you use on your gearbox??? The one for the engine or gearbox??

Re: motor oil additive
I used that Lucas crap in the worn datto A14 in my moris minor. belched smoke for next fortnight.
Ive never used a additive to smoke agian.
far easier to replace with fresh oil of different consistancy etc I think...
def. wouldnt dream of it in the ER-T engine.....shudder.

Re: motor oil additive
one thing i do know about is oils (i used to work in the local BP distributors oil depot).
Oile should never need an additive, you should select the correct oil in the first place, if a car belches smoke because it needs a rebuild then you should rebuild it using additives that make it stop losing oil also make the oil too tick to flow properly and it might not reach all the spots it needs to so it will only make your engine damage faster.

Oh yeah one last thing as far as gearbox oils go..
Redline Shock proof is definately the shiznit here, i have used it in two of my cars and both have felt/shifted better and in the case of my hyundai, i was needing a gearbox rebuild every three months or so (i drive it too hard :S ) scince using redline i havent replaced a single component in a year...
