Re: Starter motors (general)

CT and I have a number of starters, would need to check them out for the relay working properly but suspect we could help if need be.

Re: WTD: Starter motor ProT

PlainCity We have a number of starters, but given the Adelaide - Melbourne freight cost you're probably better off with a local wreckers. However, if you need one, $30 plus freight - which will probably be around $15 to 20? If you want to do this, please give us some idea of the layout, as we have a...

Re: wastgate actuator/bleedvalve/boost gauge.

Smithy If you want to know the boost that the engine is actually seeing, you pick up a post throttle vacuum line (like goes to the brake booster or the MAP sensor or ..) and use a vacuum line T piece (most auto accessory places have them) to connect in the gauge. Just make sure you don't have a leak...

Re: Sorting out vacuum...

Colza,

Afraid I'm out of knowledge - Charles will probably know. Sounds like the T2 has some computer intervention in boost control? If so, afraid I don't know the pin outs on the computer even.

Re: Error code 1?

PGNUTA The doco I have (remember it is for a CRX, not City Turbo, which is similar but not identical) doesn't list a "1". You are of course sure its "1" and not "8" which is TDC sensor (ie end light at the other end) The CRX codes go 0, 3, 5, 6, 7 to 13, but for some re...

Re: Sorting out vacuum...

Colza "Boost control thingy"? Not the idle up box? Normally boost control is a controlled air bleed between pre-throttle manifold pressure and the waste gate actuator. A mechnical / pneumatic device, unless you have a sexy electronic one. This what you are referring to or something else? J...

Re: Sorting out vacuum...

Colza If you are seriously running coolant water (as against pretty strong green glop) you can expect to have holes in many of the aluminium items of the beast. Do tell me you're not running water only. The exhaust system can have water in it when cool (or outside world is cool enough) as fuel + air...

Animallector

For the freight cost we probably have a spare dizzy for a lend and test if you decide you need to do that. If you then keep it some price.. sort out if you want.

Re: WTB Factory Repair Manual

Bino Pretty sure the journal sizes are different, and yes, differences in dimensioning all over the place, similarities are more in methods and practices. Some things interchange, like timing belts. I'm in Darwin airport at the mo on the way home, when I'm back I'll hunt down some journal size data ...

Re: MAP box interchangeability

Colza

Charles previously warned Chris and I that a slight throttle opening can cause such hunting. If the throttle plate isn't closing properly it will hunt.

Re: unexplained engine stop

If you are still looking at lack of spark, you should maybe look at issues internal to the igniter circuit in the distributor. The coil does normally have 12 V on eiher side of it when the engine isn't running, the "igniter" module in the distributor switches one side to earth as the distr...

Re: MAP box interchangeability

Colza

Is the hunt driven by the idle up solenoid (you can hear it clicking) - if so drop the amount of idle up you're getting as described in FAQ.

If not idle up driven, then a vac leak or the deadly air pocket near the TW sensor?

Re: WTB Factory Repair Manual

Bino I guess what Iwas saying is that Honda, like most engineering firms, re-uses stuff that works. So if you've been in the internals of a Civic EB1, a lot of the engineering on the City engine looks the same. The CVCC fundamentals are the same across the CVCC Civic (I thought sold in US?) and the ...

Re: WTB Factory Repair Manual

Bino

Combination of manuals helps:

Civic EB1 & Civic CVCC manuals (local library may well have..) Most components same.
Early CR-X for sections on computer issues - very similar.
This web site for some specific data.
The Japanese parts diagrams.

Re: MAP box interchangeability

Colza The issue is one of rotating the TPS on the throttle body, while reading the voltage across a couple of the wires. You need a decent DVM (like $25 at Dick Smiths or Jaycar) but NOT a moving needle voltmeter. The issue is impedance - the Digital VoltMeter has a high input impedance and doesn't ...
