Fuel Consumption

Postby eddie » Mon Jun 21, 2004 11:46 am

I have been recording my fuel usage against my driving KM.

I am not one of those people who always keep the right foot down, but I found the car use lots of fuel.  :o :o

Now the car is running at 8.5/100km, The car is a non-turbo 1.2 Leaded.

I recently have change: :'(

Oil,
Oil filter,
Air filter,
Spark plug,
Spark plug leads,
Fuel Filter,
battery...........

And most of the time I change before it reach 5000Rpm

Any idea why it is running on 8.5 it is no where near the spec which saids 4 to 6.  ??? ???

All of your symptoms (fuel consumption, smokey, goes through oil etc) are all signs of a generally tired, worn out engine.

Mine does 8ish, but the engine is FAAARKED! Well, not completely, but its getting there :-/ new engine with forgies here we come (if the guy will sell it to me...)

I thought i ought to update that last statement. As you can probably see by the lack of jumping and dancing on my part, he decided not to sell :'(

I finally fixed my City T1 and drove it from Newcastle to Canberra (420km). It used 25L of optimax in the process. That is a bit less than 6L per 100km and I'm prertty darn happy with that! Considering that the wind resistance on these little buggers is woeful and you're pretty much always on throttle to combat that, these are good figures.
