Is it a turbo civic engine? Or a city turbo in a civic?

If its a city turbo engine then you should be using Unleaded 96 octane at the very least, or 98 if available. (it will probably run fine on 91, but 96 is heaps better if you can afford it ;))

If its a turbo'd civic engine then im not sure what would be best...

its a 1.2 civic motor.

i was thinking maybe optimax or something rather than replacement lead fuel.. but i not sure i mean its a 77 model and it says leaded.. i guess its just weather i want it to run better or not..

If it has been tuned to run on leaded it might just need a bit of a tweak to get it running right on unleaded. How much boost is it running?

If its then the standard motor from a 77 civic you should use what it says leaded.

using unleaded will lead to damaged valve guides or something.  You can get a lead substitue to add form most petrol stations still selling leaded fuel.

...or you could get some head work done to make it
compatible for unleaded & get it ported at stuff at the same time . . . then you can reap the rewards of optimax/BPultimate....

When I got my civic head ported the guy said that the valve guides where good for unleaded petrol.  But its a good idea to run LRP once in a while for some lubrication.  Try using unleaded and use LRP once a month to be on the safe side.  (thats if its a civic motor)

Go Optimax/Vortex/Ultimate.  These will not harm a Civic engine.

It's not the valve guides that get any benefit from the tetraethyl.  It's the valve seats.  Valve seats in the Civic can cope if they're in good condition to begin with, and you're not running the engine lean.

One of the lads in our club did a cost analysis with Optimax in his CRX.  The extra cost per litre is offset by the better economy and smoother performance.  I also found the economy with Optimax was better than any other fuels.  Okay, Vortex comes close.

We're running premium unleaded in our  City Turbo powered Civic and it goes just fine and seems happy.

I'd be inclined to use premium unleaded to get the octane rating if its a Civic turbo along with an upper cylinder lubricant additive every third or fourth tank of fuel.

Prozone might be the answer if you don't want to risk it. Cost around $140 and install takes around 10 minutes. After that it can use unlead without damage to the valve.

As fuel price is going to go up even more after december 2004. Specially for LRP. Consider to be a good investment.

They come with a good recomendation, but a bit difficult to fit to a T1 or T2.

It's okay for you fellows with low pressure fuel lines.  But the setting up for my car was a bit too difficult.

most jappers newer than 72 have hardened valve seats and honda were one of the first to run unleaded 91 in their small short stroke engines... i've never heard of a japanese car runing upper cylinder lube(bar a rotory)... its mainly for pre 80 85 US, AUS, and european cars that rely on lead to lube their valve seats, the japs were way ahead
