If you feel around where the cable goes in you will feel a raised tube from out of the diff, if you feel that tube about halfway down it has a hole which the clip goes into.  Put your cable in as far as it will go, put the clip on, pull the cable up gently until you feel the clip take on the cable.  As long as you didn't pull the cable out all the way you should be right, but I don't know why the speedo no work sorry ??? hope that helps

Its not the end of the world if it comes right out. Mine used to come loose all the time cos bigelboe lost the clip and we replaced it with a bit of twisted wire ::)

Yeah i know,

Just that both original and aftermarket will have to run off that cable (or aftermarket may have a converter of some sort?). So if cable is stuffed, no matter what's on the other end, it won't read.

You should pull the speedo out again, unclip it and turn engine end and get someone to see if other end turns, then you know if it's the cable or dash.

On a similar subject...my tacho cable is only 1/2!! As in only the cable from the dash is there and finishes at an empty casing i'm reckoning about 1/2 way from where it has to go couple of ???
1....what goes in that casing?
2....where does it attach to the engine?
Grateful for any help..I thought it might be near the speedo somewhere but I canna find it!! :-/
