Honda today
Honda today
There is a 1988 Honda Today (550cc) for sale $1200 on http://www.yahoomotorsport.com Just click on the first Mira link. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this car and if it would easily accept a city turbo transplant. looks even smaller than a city but might be a bit of a nanna mobile. Just interested...
Re: Honda today
I've seen that car, no chance of fitting a turbo motor in there, overall it's much smaller than a city, lower, fairly roomy inside, 3 cylinder carburetted motor, 4 speed box. Engine room is very small.

Re: Honda today
drove a honda beat up in Cairns.. hunk of crap gearbox felt terrible.. no power till about 7 or 8 thousand revs.. went up to like 12 or 13 thou... not bad.. but not very fun to drive with the dealer in the car with you.. may have been a different story up around the 10k 11krpm mark...

Re: Honda today
I felt sorry for this Today a while back so have bought it as a project to keep me off the streets. It's not a City but it is a rare Honda, have been working my way through the car in my spare time and should be on the road before Christmas. Still have a couple of compliance jobs to do. Will try to post a spec sheet in my gallery soon. Brendan, if this doesn't fit the site, feel free to delete, otherwise feel free to ask questions.

Re: Honda today
stick a honda shadow 1200cc in it
Re: Honda today
I've only driven it about 3 times, a couple of test drives then drove it home on trade-plates. Haven't finished the compliance work yet but it feels quite nippy, revs fairly freely. Some spec's that I have found are:
Engine: E05A. 3 cylinder, inclined 60deg. 4 valves per cyl, OHC, 4 bearing crank. 0.55litres. compression ratio 9.8:1 power 26KW at 6500rpm 44Nm at 5200rpm.
Wheels are 4j 12"
Front suspension is McPherson Strut. Rear is a beam axle on coil springs with seperate shockers.
Brakes are Disc front, drum rear. Should stop quick, the brakes are same size as the city.
Transmission is 4 speed manual.
Kerb weight is 650kg
Performance: Max speed, 130-145 km-h. 19.6km-h per 1000revs so at 140 it will be doing 7000!!! Power to weight ratio. 19.1kg/kW Fuel consumpiton, 4-7L/100km.
This one has integrated air conditioning, will probably have to change down a gear when the compressor cuts in!!

Re: Honda today
Hmmm sounds like a candidate for a "super turbo " make over . What do ya reckon Henry ? Or perhaps I'll get that March and rebadge it as a Honda and baffle everybuggar .
Henry has a new toy , look out everyone . Cant wait to see it .
