C'mon dude, you wont learn unless you try! Its pretty easy to get them apart, just dismantle everthing in sight, the gayest bit is undoing the manifold bolts that are underneath the exhaust manifold, otherwise its straight sailing.
If me and colza can do it in his driveway with a few sockets, spanners and a torque wrench, anyone can do it. Even if you just get the head off then take that to the shop to get them to chuck in the stem seals, cause you have to ream them and shit.
A good start is to get a haynes manual for an early civic, just make sure its one of the ones that had cvcc, 1st 2nd or 3rd gen. Everything is applicable except forthe carbie shit.

He probably fiddled with the throttle stop, just screw it in a bit and you should fix it.

Hello,
Just to ease the concern on the head gasket.
Yes, the standard City head gasket does work in the T2. The block is the same as far as bore and studs, oil transfer galleys and water ports.
We have a colleague in Melbourne who's using one. And he was able to get the CVCC valve stem seals easily in Japan.
So it's not as difficult and toturous a path as expected.
Now for a new rubber under the rocker cover.....
regards,
Campbell

Re: Gasket sets in Aus
NZ Gaskets still list a gasket set for it, probably pretty straight forward to get one sent over. Plenty of kiwis including me can help if they won't ship direct.
