yep.........well ive gotta use up that por15 before it goes bad
baremetaled the boot seal rim

and the window channels

and the windscreen seam and plug welded it

got my leg with the wire brush wheel in the grinder nasty hurt like hell!

dust coat of primer over tacky por15 to allow overcoating later

also got new boots for the steering rack and ball joints the rack goes back in tomorow night.
next job is to fix the little spots of rust under the doors then start on the bog action again

Haha good work man, Ive been thinking about using that POR15 on rust likely areas like you have. It seems to stand up to heat pretty well so I am going to use it on the inside of panel joins, it only burns away right next to the welds.

I got the back of my hand with the wirebrush, makes a bit of a mess.

in heinsight i wish i had got the whole car profesionally sandblasted,then i could have welded up all the rust painted the whole thing with por15 and forgot about rust for atleast another ten years but its too late now and what ive done should last 10yrs i hope.

HEY GUYS. this comments for TurboCab and BigElboe. just to say i think what your both doing is awesome and i totally look forward to following the updates ( im sure i check every two hours).

I'm bloody annoyed about the amount of rust your finding in my old girl TurboCab (my wife refuses to accept it herself, certian you've taken it for a bit of beachwork or something!).

Wondering if either of you are still considering building in rollcages into the insides of the chassis ?

yeah dont feel too bad about the rust mate i was parking very near to the beach for about six months when i didnt have a work ute so its my own stupid fault,most of it...that boot seal was already rusty when i got it off you.
i was told that a cage is now illegal in nsw but i believe that you can have one if it is built,designed and certified by an engineer.so i may have one built later down the track if i want to do race events that require one.

I am putting some extra bracing in my car (roof, strut towers) but to get a roll cage in there good you would have to do cutting to get the pipes in, which I wasn't keen for. Ill see what direction the car goes in but it may end up with a cage. No probs here you just get someone who is experienced in making cages, about 3-500 for a half cage, 8-1200 for a full cage. More for chro-moly etc. Full cage has to be motorsport homoligated and the car has to be used for at least 2 events a year to keep it current. Half cage just gets certified and re-registered as a 2 seater.

the front is hanging from one of the floor joists of my house by a chain.
a fairly thin chain at that makes me kinda nervous getting under there but its not taking a lot of weight 50kg max i can lift it up to the required height to do the shackle up.

didnt make mutch progress over the holiday period was either working or drunk.
got the left hand side door margin finished up tonight pretty stoked with its smoothness.
