minor update..
really just been waiting for the weather, acquiring various things and thinking about my strategy for alot of the rust repair.
POR15 seems like a real bitch.. (especially after bigelboes comments in his thread) with no one really knowing the best application method. I have the 'metal ready', por15, 'tie coat' primer, some filler and seam sealant.
obviously will put down the metal ready then the por15.. some say to put the tiecoat on when the por15 hasnt fully dried.. but the tiecoat shouldnt really go on top of paint or metal either. So i think i will put the bog/filler on top of the tie coat (eventhough it was said it should go on the por15). Then put another primer over the tiecoat and filler for the colour.
metal ready > por15 > tiecoat > filler/bog/seam sealant > primer for top coat
But anyway. The plastice guides for the sunroof had rusted out bolts.. and there was evidence of rust too. Found out that someone had done a very half arsed repair job.. Just probably removed a bit of rust and just bogged it, left the rusted in bolts too. So spent ages with blunt drill bits putting a hole in where the bolts had seized in and taped with new thread (m6x1 and m7x0.75 for future reference).
nice 2 holes.. shouldnt be that hard to fix with some welding and filler
Also should be dropping off my block and head to a backyard machinist on the weekend.. He normally only does performance sr20det's.. but yeah hopefully it all works out.. will assemble it myself though
