T2 struts on 1st gen civic?

Postby crshbndct » Mon Nov 16, 2009 7:26 am

Hey. I have a 1st gen civic and i am 90% of the way finished sourcing a t2 engine. But i read on the info base that t2 struts fit this car. Am i able to swap all 4 struts to my car there by gaining vented discs in the front and a much easier 4x100 pcd swap? I figured since i am using the city gear box, there shouldn't be any issues with driveshafts fitting, possibly a bit of shortening. Is this a viable option to getting some unobtainium en hubs and stuff? Also i hear that 2 pot calipers off a prelude fit these which kind of sorts out the brake upgrade thing too.

You can swap the struts, but you definitely cannot swap the knuckles. They may bolt up, but your camber will be miiiilllleees out.

There is only one way to do a 4x100 conversion on a 1st gen and thats using the EN hubs and pressing them into the EB knuckle, as documented fairly well on 1stgencivic.com

The struts will also be far too long.

And now that i think about it the T2 knuckles will have a straight fitting for the LCA mount, while the Civic has a taper.

Just generally all round doesnt work.
