Fuel gauge stopped working.

Postby bmgjet » Fri Dec 10, 2010 9:03 am

Hey just got this city turbo and the fuel gauge doesnt work.
Was working half the way up but then it just stopped.

Whats it most likly to be. I dont want to ripped the tank out to get to the sender unit to find out that its common for a wire under the dash to come lose.

Thanks.

Fuel Gauge

Postby spangleking » Fri Dec 10, 2010 1:56 pm

From Dunedin:

hard to say... can the sender unit be accessed without taking the tank out?

I have had problems with my Speedo illumination so maybe things can wear out or come loose under there also. I have not even figured out how to get the speedo out to check wiring and replace a bulb yet ( :

Try gauge cluster first, maybe some loose connections / dodgy shit in behind it,

Pics of the T2 you got?

Pulled cluster apart and fixed few cold solder joints. Only other thing out of place is theres a part missing. Any one have any idea what it is.

Hooked up the multi meater to it while the dash was all hooked up. Readings are all erratic so that leaves the sender to be the source of the problem.

Which really looks like a pain to get to. Side air vents cant access it so tank will need to be dropped out.

Fixed problem. Plug on the sender was broken so was bearly holding on and would come off and on over bumps. And there was also a break in the wire next to the drivers seat which was shorting on the body.
