How do you remove front bumper. T2

Postby bmgjet » Fri Jan 21, 2011 12:31 pm

Was just about to take front bumper off to paint it a colour the matches the car. Had a look at how its mounted and it has 1 bolt in the middle then on the side its looks like you need to remove the guard to get it off.

Is the correct or is there a easyer way to remove it. Didnt want to just rush in there a reck anything since it would be a pain trying to find replacement parts if anything broke.

Thanks.

Remove headlights, twist and they just pop out
Remove head light surrounds
Undo the 3 bolts along the top of the bumper
Undo bolts holding foglights (at top of foglights) they tie in the bottom of the bumper
Slide bumper to the front amd it will slide off the clips on the guards
May have to disconnect some cables (foglights)

Make sure the little clips that act as fitting sliders on reassy are sound and firm on the mudguards.Apply some vaseline too. Grease all your bolts etc for east reassy and disassy. Make sure you have the o rings to the body behind the lights where your wiring sub harnesses go through as they can chaft and blow every thing. Use/wrap heaps of tape if you cannot get anything to fit or they are missing. Its is hard to force the wiring plugs through these O rings in situ but perservere.
Remember get your fogs both working for a WOF. Makwe sure they have no moisture in them.,Otherwise simply disconnect them then they are not necessary for the WOF.

Be getting around to doing it tomorrow.
Most the bolts are already removed just 1 in the middle holding them and the foglights are screwed into the bumper but have lots of cable behind them so looks like i just need to undo that 1 bolt then slide the bumper off.
