Spark plug gap and plug types

Postby AnimaLector » Mon Jan 19, 2004 1:09 pm

ok the current plug is the BPR6ES-11 and the gap looks huge.. anyone know if there's an interchangable plug? and what the gap should be.

Thanks
Andy
P.S could put this in the INfo base maybe or possibly it's too simple..

Does 1.1mm sound about right for the plug gap? I did a search and came up with this info..

For big boost knock down plug gap to 0.8mm.

Swapped oil and filter (Ryco Z-something-130A) on weekend (Motul 15/40)
starts smoother and feels it too...

probably due to changing plugs also...

same  NGK R    BPR6ES-11 ....plugs removed were
Denso something plug gaps where teeny bit smaller though...

$4:50 each had to order them in at Autobahn next day delivery though so not uncommon.

as noted starts from cold easier and engine stops nicer too, was a little run on for just one or two turns but
sounds great now....

yeah I did my filter (Z130A) and plugs were NGK BPR6ES-11 got them from repco.. had them on the shelf.. also put in shell fully synthetic noticed a little difference not much though..

I do have a questions though..  it seems to miss / burp / fart when decellarating and when off the gas during a change.. anybody know what this could be.. shagged vac advance would cause this?

THanks

Andy

Leaking vac advance could cause that, yank off one of the hoses and have a suck. It should pull the plunger thing a little and then you shouldnt be able to suck any more. If you can hear it leaking, then getting a new one might be somethign to look at.

I believe there is BPR7ES-11 listed in the tech info on this cityturbo.com site. Is this a hotter plug say for around town, perhaps the BPR6Es-11 is cooler?
