Honda revives groundbreaking ‘Bulldog’ City Turbo
Honda Japan CEO Hiroyuki Yoshino announced today the revival of one of Honda’s only attempts at a turbocharged production vehicle, the City Turbo. Based on the best selling Jazz, the new City Turbo will continue the original Turbo 2 nickname of the ‘Bulldog’ with its exaggerated wheel arches and aggressive stance.
Differences from the current Jazz platform are many, including a revised two-door hatch body shell, bulbous hood and aggressive body kit additions.
Driveline is a deviation of the current Jazz 1339cc engine with an innovative variable turbocharger system. This system is the first of its kind in a production vehicle and uses constantly variable blade pitch on both compressor and turbine sides of the turbocharger to ensure maximum boost is available in all situations. This technology produces a very flat torque curve from almost idle to redline and with a maximum power output of an amazing 240ps, combined with an upgraded Honda CVT transmission, the new Honda City Turbo ‘Bulldog’ might have what it takes to be biting at the heals of the world fancied EVOs and Sti giant killers.
The Honda City Turbo goes on sale April 2005
