some cable..

hey guys, just wondering, having only got experience from a T1, what the cable going from the fire wall (behind the dash) in to the back of the gear box (firewall side) on our T2? when i say cable i mean like a push/pull type thingy, im sure there is a technical name but i dont know it!

Is it a push pull cable or a spinny cable? Does the end of the cable have a loop, knob or square shaft on it? I noticed when I had the motor out of my T1 that there was a spare hole in the gear box next to where the speedo cable goes in. I just assumed that this where you connect it if you want to display your speed in mph instead of kph.
