Re: coils
Hehe nice col, speaking from your acres of experience on this subject, having put a grand total of 0 performance coils in your car . I haven't installed any either, but I hear having fatter sparks can give you tourque gains throughout the rev range and lets you run boost better because the spark is less likely to blow out.
Re: coils
well with high performance coils they say that you will get a bigger spark under higher preshers than a standard coil, but because of the pre combustion chamber in the er turbo head would this be better or not make a diffrence at all

Re: coils
Yeah thats true I didnt think about the spark being in there, might negate a few of the effects, but there is still gonna be full pressure in there, so it should help i guess... Why dont you buy one and tell us! ;D
Re: coils
I am currently using a Bosch 40R. I have try a few different types already. However it doesn't seems to be improve alot until other accessory are added in.
spark plug leads (9mm) $ 50 a set
Champion Gold $ 3 Each
Earthing kit $55 total 6m enought for the whole engine bay
Pivot volt regulator $100.
Thats all the electric accessory in my engine. It run a bit quicker. Burn cleaner and use less fuel

Re: coils
id say you could run a wider plug gap for a better spark.... what you really want is an msd..... dick smiths used to make a kit.. i bought one once and it blew my elec dizzy to pieces.. after a year that is.. did five sparks in the space of one and would also jump a 25mm gap.... had a "shock can kill you" warning on the side..... ooooh nasty ;D
