It's, it's alive! (now with pics!)

Yes, finaly my CityT1 is back on the road complete with a new front mount cooler, custom exhaust manifold and garret GT17 turbo!
After a lot of late nights and alot of hours work, this weekend i drove it agin for the first time in 7 weeks!
The best part about it now, by far, is the way it sounds!  I cant believe the difference the new turbo and manifold has made to the exhaust note!  From the inside, it sounds more like a skyline GT-R than a honda city! :)
It goes well too, on 10psi now it is about as quick as it was with the old turbo at 16psi!  Need to upgrade the fuel system now in preperation for some serious boost.
Bad thing though is that the power range has narrowed somewhat and moved higher in the revrange meaning that when cruising at 110kmh, a hill means a change to 4th gear in order to bring it on boost.  But hey, thems the breaks of a big turbo! :)

Cheers

Glenn

Hi Boostboy,
My 1st gen civic with a GT17 powered city turbo is alomost finished. I was wondering what the performance gains of the bigger turbo are like? When you upgrade the fuel system are you going to put in a sixth injecter or use bigger injecters?.

Cheers
Chris ;D

Hey Chris,

The fuel system is still stock at the moment, hence me only running about 10psi.  It seems to be making about the same power at this level of boost as it did at 16psi with the old setup.  The more boost i run the better this turbo will get, im sure. Ive decided to not use the microtech computer and instead simply upgrade the injectors to B20's and run a bigger pump with a malpassi regulator.  That should support my intended 20psi.

Its a completely different animal to drive now.  Instead of full boost arriving at about 2800, it hits full boost at about 4000 but revs much, much more cleanly to redline.  It really loves to rev now.  It has lost alot of power below 3000 though which gets a bit of getting used to.  All up though im very happy with the GT17. :)
